Bruschetta, Trying New Wine and Back/Shoulder Injuries

Happy Monday! I’m really excited to roll out a weekly recap series. Every Monday morning I will publish a new post that shares my week in review. This will be a great way for me to connect with you and share a more personal look into my life.

On Monday it was back to work after Christmas! I felt like I had a lot to get caught up on after taking off Christmas Eve and Christmas. I spent most of my day crossing things off my list and prepping for another short work week!

I also spent time on Monday learning about Instagram and Facebook’s new terms of service. If you haven’t already looked into these new terms, I would recommend that you do. At this time, I still need my Instagram and Facebook accounts for some client work, but when I am able to, I will be choosing to delete and deactivate these accounts.

On Monday evening we made our favorite homemade bruschetta and paired it with Silver Ghost Cabernet Sauvignon that I received as a gift! This was my first time trying a Cabernet Sauvignon! It was a bit dry for me but very good!

On Tuesday, Branden was still dealing with back issues. Last week he pulled his psoas muscle at the gym. The psoas muscle is located in the lower lumbar region of the spine and extends through the pelvis to the femur. Most motions, like going from sitting to standing, walking, laying and sitting have all been really bothering him. He is working with a great chiropractor, but it seems to be taking quite awhile to heal.

On Wednesday my Dad had surgery on his shoulder. He tore his posterior labrum and anterior-inferior labrum. Having surgery during a pandemic is really strange. My Mom was only able to drop him off at the door and then wait for a call to hear how it went and when she should come to get him. That was challenging for both of my parents!

His surgery went very well though! He has a long road of physical therapy ahead, but once he gets through that, his shoulder will be stronger than ever.

On Thursday, I took the day off work. I spent the day cleaning, organizing, and thinking about all I want to accomplish in 2021! I don’t make resolutions for the new year, but I do write out my goals and what I want to accomplish. I then break down those goals into actionable steps to make sure I achieve them!

Here are my goals for 2021:

  • Get in the best shape of my life
  • Buy our first home
  • Pay off my student loans
  • Monetize my blog

When Branden got home from work, we ordered Buffalo Wild Wings and snuggled up to watch the Office. We also popped some champagne that I received as a gift! We weren’t crazy about sipping on it plain, so we made mimosas! When it got closer to midnight, we turned on the tv watched the ball drop. There’s always something magical about a new year!

On Friday, I went to the gym and got a nice walk in. This was the first time I’ve been back at the gym since everything with Covid! I had been walking outside when it was nicer out, but I wasn’t taking time to be active very often. It felt really good to move my body and work up a sweat!

On Saturday, I got back to my intermittent fasting routine! I fasted for 20 hours! It feels so good to get back to IF! I also spent time watching some SEO videos and planning for 2021 for my blog.

When Branden got home from work, we watched some Gordon Ramsay cooking videos. Branden and I both want to be better cooks and cook more from home in 2021.

Lidi had a blast playing in the snow this week!

On Sunday, I did laundry- including our sheets! I love to wash our sheets every Sunday to start the week off on a great note. While Branden was working, I went to the gym, cleaned up the kitchen and read some Pinterest updates from Ell’s Pinterest Course.

When Branden got home from work, we went to get groceries and mailed out some eBay packages. The rest of the evening was pretty low key!
