Hi there! I’m Macy, the author and creative mind behind the Macy Michelle Blog. I’m a Wisconsin-based wellness blogger, obsessed with helping you become the best possible version of yourself.
I graduated from Iowa State University (go Cyclones!) with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications. I’ve always been passionate about writing, so my major was an easy choice. What to do with my major, well that’s another story…
I tried out quite a few different jobs after I graduated. Ok, A LOT of jobs. I wrote for a newspaper, I worked as a marketing coordinator, I did freelance writing and I even took a break from all of that and worked as a receptionist for a while. But I didn’t love a single one of those positions.
That’s when my blog entered the picture. I needed a creative outlet and I needed to get back to my writing roots. Right now, I spend my days working as a digital marketing specialist, while doing the side-hustle with this blog of mine.
In other news, I have zero sense of direction, am an avid popcorn lover and have never broken a bone in my body (knock on wood). I couldn’t live without a good cup of coffee, fuzzy blankets, the tv show Friends or puppy kisses.
Macy Michelle’s Wellness Journey
When I graduated from college in 2014, I felt like I had no control over my life. I was moving back in with my parents, I didn’t know when I would get a job and I couldn’t control the massive student loans payments that were quickly coming my way.
Over the course of college I had gained the dreaded “freshman 15” and more. I lived on junk food, coffee and spend majority of my evenings drinking or at the bar scene.
I started by focusing on healthier foods and paid close attention to the serving size on packages and the nutrition labels on food. I also increased my activity level. I got a fitness tracker and worked to hit 10,000 steps per day.
These small changes began to add up! I started to see my clothes fitting better and the numbers on the scale going down. Also, I felt amazing! I had energy, I slept better and my acne started clearing up.
Along this journey, I have truly found a passion for wellness, the science behind food, nutrition, physical activity, and the mind.
When I first strived to get healthy, I wanted to lose weight mainly to look better. There’s nothing wrong with that! But now, I care much more about my overall health, the strength of my body and the science behind it all.
